Hire dRemodeling now! If you are sick and tired of contractors that don't show up, do crappy work, change the price on you at the last minute and are downright rude, then dRemodeling is your dream contractor. We hired them based on Angie's list reviews and we were so pleased to find that they lived up to all of the hype. The job started in November and, due to delays in some of the materials that we selected, the job didn't finish up completely until February. Had everything been on time, dRemodeling would have been done much earlier than that. So here's the top 10 reasons to hire this company. 1. They show up when they say they will! Like clockwork for months, they arrived at 8am sharp and left at 5pm. That is very rare with contractors. 2. Pricing is all based on labor - you buy materials (other than studs, outlets etc.). This is great because a lot of contractors up their price by upping the price on the materials. This creates a great dynamic where it's in their best interest to help you find the best price on product because they don't make any money from it. Dan Dragomir (owner and project manager), negotiated our kitchen cabinets and tile selection prices for us and saved us thousands after he saw the price we were quoted originally. Find a contractor that will do that for you! 3. Friendly team - if you're gonna practically live with these guys for a few months, at least you hope they are nice. The guys were all very nice to my 3 kids and my wife at all times and never once disrespected them. I've had other contractors that treated my wife like something out of a 50's film and were chauvinistic jerks. Not dRemodeling...class act all of the way. The team is highly efficient and knocks out work quickly. 4. High quality work - these guys don't cut corners! They are very proud of their work and are very picky and will fix things that you didn't even notice. Dan, the owner, makes sure to stop by often to inspect the work and makes sure every detail is in place and exactly perfect or it's done over. I really appreciated this as someone that has had corners cut by other contractors. 5. Keep the job site clean - every time they left, their tools and materials were always neatly stacked and covered and they vacuumed every day before they left to clean up the dust. 6. Good sub contractors (electrical) - their electrician was excellent and, even though not a member of the core team, they really felt like they followed all of the same rules and high standards that Dan's own team follows. Arrived on time and always did professional work. 7. Pricing is fair - dRemodeling is not the cheapest contractor you will find, his quote was actually in the middle of all of the quotes we got, but with all of the other factors considered, it was well worth the additional cost. What good is a cheaper up front price if the quality you get is terrible and you have to hire another contractor like Dan to clean up the mess?? 8. Follows local code/ordinances - Amazing, a contractor that actually will buy a permit! This is something a lot of contractors "should" do but don't because it eats into their profit. Dan didn't build the cost into his bill, he told me the exact cost and asked me if I wanted to pay. Of course I did because I've been burned in the past by contractors doing below-code work and then having to pay to have someone fix it. Never again! All permits were legit and posted and gave me peace of mind that quality was being monitored by my township. 9. The owner is the project manager for your job - there are 2 important points here...they actually have a project manager meaning you don't have to do it and that person is the owner. No having to go back to anyone for approval to make a change in the project...Dan says it goes, it goes. It's very nice to have someone moving the project along, ensuring dates are hit, and ensuring you as the customer are making decisions on materials in a timely fashion so they can keep on track. Dan is also a helpful with issues with materials, like a tub that was too large or a sink that was too big. He assisted with returns with the online stores (fyi - if I had to do it again, I would not purchase large items online...go to a local warehouse...it's a major pain to return things online) and helped us get return fees waived. 10. Flexible with customer demands - towards the end of the project we started dreaming up other changes to make to our living space particularly in our living room. New hardwood floors were necessary to make our open floor plan look the best it could. Then we wanted a new front door, then we wanted recessed lighting, then we wanted an updated fireplace, then we wanted new stairs, then we wanted our flooring to continue up to our hallway. The list goes on and on and Dan was always accommodating on price and fit in all of the work into our project with all of the other projects he had going on with other customers. If you've read this far, then you know it's a no-brainer decision. With this much money on the line, don't cheap out and save yourself a few thousand bucks with a one man show, that will take forever, probably show up 50% of the time, do shoddy work, laugh at the thought of buying a permit and will conveniently have a disconnected phone number when you try to reach them 2 months later when their work starts to fall apart on you. You can't sue someone that you can't find! (learned this the hard way with a roofer a few years back!). Best of luck to you - hire them - you won't regret it! David Miller
